Motorised curtains and blinds: which motor do you need?
Short answer: For Apple Home, Google Home or Amazon Alexa, choose the BCM400D Matter over Thread Curtain Motor (AU$198, SAA certified, 240 V mains). It needs a Matter controller with a Thread border router, such as an Apple HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K. With no power point near the window, the 87E battery kit (from AU$369, cut-to-length track included) needs no wiring. To keep the curtain and track you already have, the clip-on 86 Curtain Robot (AU$149) is the simplest option. For roller blinds, use the 85 Beaded Chain Motor or the 25 tubular motor (AU$159 each). We ship Australia-wide, free on eligible orders of AU$199 or more.

Three questions to answer before you order
- Curtain or blind? Curtains on a track suit the BCM400D, the 87E kits or the 86 robot. Roller blinds suit the 85 (beaded chain) or the 25 (tubular motor).
- Is there power near the window? Mains motors (BCM400D, 87E mains kit, 25) need a power point near the track. In Australia, a new power point must be installed by a licensed electrician. With no power nearby, choose a battery model (87E battery kit or 85).
- Which smart home do you use? The BCM400D connects over Matter over Thread, so it works with Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa through a Matter controller and Thread border router; some hubs combine both roles. Delivery and installation
- We ship Australia-wide. Standard shipping is AU$20, and free on eligible orders of AU$199 or more. Delivery usually takes 3–10 business days. See our shipping policy.
- Battery motors and the clip-on robot can be fitted yourself. Mains motors need power at the window, so your electrician may need to add a power point.
