The Arklyfe Starlight Metal Conch 8MP is the resolution-bumped version of the Conch outdoor PoE camera: 8MP Ultra HD instead of 6MP, in the same all-metal IP67-rated housing. The extra resolution matters most in two scenarios: wide-angle driveways where you need readable number plates at the curb, and large backyards or commercial frontages where the camera covers a 10–15 m field and a 6MP sensor would lose detail in the corners. For most Australian suburban front-door installs, the 6MP is sufficient; for any setup where the camera needs to resolve detail at distance, the 8MP is the right call.

Everything else carries over from the 6MP Conch. The all-metal housing with IP67 waterproof rating handles AU coastal salt, summer storms and Melbourne winter without corrosion. Dual-light full-colour night vision captures real colour after sunset, useful when reviewing footage for clothing, vehicle colour or skin tone, which are the details that genuinely help police follow up resident-supplied footage. The professional metal body also matters: cheap plastic cameras crack within 2–3 AU summers, and they look like cheap plastic cameras, which signals the wrong thing to anyone walking past with intent.

The AI feature set is identical to the 6MP: intelligent human and vehicle detection filters false alarms from possums and trees, perimeter intrusion detection with tripwire lets you draw virtual lines at fences and driveway entries, and a built-in microphone captures audio context. For passive monitoring at the highest resolution in the Conch lineup, the 8MP is the model.
